Verizon has announced an agreement with TVN Entertainment for video-on-demand programming and services for its forthcoming FiOS TV service.

TVN will provide Verizon with a wide range of VOD programming including new studio releases, a library of previous releases, independent movies, family and kids programming, and a number of free on-demand networks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Based in Burbank, California, TVN Entertainment Corporation is one of the largest privately held digital content aggregation, management, distribution, and service companies in the U.S.

“Verizon, the largest telecommunications company in the U.S., is building an advanced TV platform that will showcase the extraordinary appeal of VOD,” said Jim Riley, TVN executive vice president.

“FiOS TV customers will be delighted at how easy it is to choose from thousands of hours of VOD programming, thanks to TVN’s extensive on-demand content portfolio and advanced platform, coupled with our fiber-to-the-premises network,” said Terry Denson, vice president of marketing and programming for Verizon FiOS TV.

In addition to video on demand, FiOS TV will deliver hundreds of digital channels, high-definition programming, and an interactive programme guide via its fibre network.
