At the IPTV World Forum in London, SkyStream Networks announced that seven telecom operators across Europe have selected their video headends to provide broadband video services.
When deployed, the company says that more than 200,000 European subscribers will be receiving their content from headends based on SkyStream products.
SkyStream provides a complete video headend with up to 48 MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 encoders in a single chassis and it claims to be the first fully-integrated MPEG-4 AVC solution of its type.
The company also provides a compact solution with up to eight encoders in a single box just 1 rack unit high.
The demonstration seen by informitv appeared to provide impressive picture quality with MPEG-4 at 1.5Mbs.
