OpenTV has appointed a former Time Warner veteran to head up strategic development at the interactive television software company.

Mazin Jadallah has been appointed to the newly created post of senior vice president of strategic development to identify and map OpenTV’s strategic direction, oversee business development, identify potential strategic investments and external partnering opportunities.

“I have known Mazin for many years,” said Jim Chiddix, chairman and chief executive of OpenTV. “His deep understanding of our cable partners, and his broad background and demonstrated expertise in the media, entertainment and technology industries will be critical in mapping our strategic direction in the iTV industry.

“Mazin will build on our experience delivering a stable, mature middleware product to operators allowing them to generate additional revenue with innovative offerings, from addressable advertising and games, to customer care and enhanced television.”

Prior to OpenTV, Jadallah served as vice president, corporate development for Time Warner Interactive Group’s Mystro TV division, which delivered the world’s first network PVR service. Before that he was an executive director at Time Warner where he provided financial and strategic advisory services to the company and its chief operating officer.
