OpenTV subsidiary BettingCorp has signed a deal with satellite operator GlobeCast to distribute the PlayMonteCarlo interactive gaming channel.
The service will be available on the Sky platform via the Eurobird satellite. The distribution was previously handled directly by Sky.
GlobeCast will also house the interactive servers for the PlayMonteCarlo service, controlled via a virtual private network, enabling remote access from PlayMonteCarlo’s production centre in London.
“GlobeCast’s reliable and scaleable bandwidth services were the obvious choice,” said Sean Eyen of BettingCorp. “We will use their global footprint in order to support an expansion of our PlayMonteCarlo gaming service and other BettingCorp technology powered services on interactive televison through our growing partner network.”
GlobeCast is a subsidiary of France Telecom and a competitor to SES Astra.
PlayMonteCarlo is a 24-hour fixed-odds games portal available through Sky’s interactive menu and through Sky Active and the Sky BettingZone.
