Two Way TV has created a mobile division with the acquisition of start-up company Broadcast Games.

The move is the first step in a new strategy to grow the business through acquisition.

Broadcast Games has developed a system known as SAMPO that allows users to chat, play games and interact with on screen events using their mobile phones.

The company was founded last year by Julian Jones and Jani Peltonen, who will become head of mobile and head of mobile development respectively for Two Way Mobile. Other terms have not been disclosed.

Commenting on the deal, Two Way TV chief executive Jean de Fougerolles said: “We are integrating the expertise of Broadcast Games with our existing mobile-to-TV services, to create innovative and market-leading mobile-to-TV games which work on analogue services, as well as digital platforms.”

Earlier in the year Two Way signed an exclusive contract with ITV plc to provide mobile content services for the UK commercial television channel.

The shareholders of Two Way Media have agreed to invest £1.8 million in new ventures to consolidate the company’s position in the interactive marketplace.
