ETV or enhanced television is a term often reserved for forms of interactive television that are generally associated with a scheduled broadcast programme.

The term may be used in contrast to persistent interactive applications such as general information services that are not associated with any particular programme.

The distinction is not technical and the term is often used interchangeably with the general term interactive television or ITV.

Enhanced television services may be presented for the duration of a scheduled programme or for a period before or after transmission. They may provide access to additional material related to the programme or offer other means of interacting such as voting or messaging or participating in a game or quiz.
