There’s been much debate and disagreement in recent years about the scale of so-called ‘cord cutting’. This is the concept that subscribers are churning out of the pay-television system to watch online video instead. Yet to the apparent disappointment of the digerati they are not, at least not in large numbers, as our Multiscreen Index demonstrates. If anything, they’re simply swapping one subscription for another. The irony is that in this internet era people are becoming more dependent than ever on network connectivity. On that, we are in accord.
