Sky Sports has signed a three-year licence to use authoring software from Ensequence to create synchronised interactive TV applications.

Sky Sports produces five dedicated sports channels available on BSkyB in the UK. The first application authored with Ensequence on-Q Create software will be launched in August.

“Ensequence on-Q software has a perfect fit with our interactive programming philosophy, complementing our existing interactive output and allowing us to focus on increasing our viewers’ enjoyment of Sky Sports even more,” said Piers Croton, executive director of Sky Sports Active. “We are impressed by the power and usability of the on-Q authoring suite, which will help us to produce synchronised interactive programming quickly and easily, with fresh content, in a manner which dovetails with our standard production process.”

MTV Networks in the UK and Ireland also recently entered into a three-year partnership with Ensequence covering application authoring, playout and support services. MTV will bring the production and deployment of interactive applications in-house. Previously this was outsourced to a third party, NDS.
