Pace is to supply personal video recorders for Sky in New Zealand and will provide set-top boxes for Galaxy in Hong Kong. The company is also planning to introduce a new multimedia product that will support video, voice and data triple play services.

At Broadcast Asia in Singapore, Pace Micro Technology said it has signed an agreement with Sky Network Television to provide set-top boxes for the first personal video recorder service in New Zealand, which is due to launch later in the year. Pace also supplied boxes for the launch of a similar service in Australia earlier this year.

Pace also announced a contract with SuperSun, the pay television service from Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting in Hong Kong. Galaxy has chosen MediaHighway Core middleware and the NDS Videoguard conditional access system for their deployment.

Meanwhile at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in San Antonio, Texas, Pace revealed plans to enter the market for voice over internet protocol products with the development of a new embedded multimedia terminal adapter, the DV315 eTMA.

The device will incorporate a battery to provide life-line service during power outages. Currently under development it will be available to cable operators by the end of the year. Pace says the development is in recognition of the importance of the triple play of video, voice and data services.

The company has also expanded its product line for next generation digital cable networks with a new high-definition set-top box, saying “the evolution of cable networks to all-digital is a clear trend”.

The DC551 comes with HDMI, a secure digital high-definition multimedia interface connection as standard. An optional Firewire connection is also available, using a protection scheme known as 1394/5C.
