The latest interactive programme guide from Gemstar-TV Guide, known as i-Guide, will be integrated with OpenTV middleware.
The integrated solution will offer network operators a flexible interactive programme guide that will work with a number of different set-top boxes and platforms.
When the integration is complete, Gemstar plan to market the i-Guide worldwide. It is expected to run on set-top boxes running OpenTV Core middleware, including those from Motorola and Scientific-Atlanta.
“We are excited to partner with such a respected brand as Gemstar-TV Guide to integrate their IPG with OpenTV’s industry-leading middleware,” said Jim Chiddix, OpenTV’s chairman and chief executive. “This agreement signals a new chapter in iTV deployment by opening up platforms worldwide and by enabling network operators to build and launch applications without having to do native TV Guide integration.”
The i-Guide will be previewed at the NCTA National Show in San Francisco.
