CES is the latest international trade show to succumb to the coronavirus pandemic. In January the show attracted 100,000 attendees to Las Vegas, plus 64,000 exhibiting and 5,000 from the media. Over a third of them came from outside the United States. 11,000 came from China. CES 2021 will be online only. Known for its major keynotes and product launches, a virtual event will enable people to view these remotely, as many already do. In the absence of major conventions and conferences, businesses will need to rebalance their budgets and invest the savings in stands and travel expenses in other forms of marketing communications.
