As the Winter Olympics in Italy provides a catalyst for extensive interactive coverage, much of this issue of the informitv update was written by the pool in Los Angeles, where there are signs that interactive television is finally beginning to break through. While cable operators in the United States appear to be moving as slowly as possible towards adopting OCAP as a standard interactive platform, Europe has acknowledged the practical difficulty of imposing a single standard such as MHP.
