Today it’s World Television Day, a celebration of the global cultural impact of television. In the United States alone, people watch a total of 840 million hours of television a day. In the United Kingdom, the average viewer will have watched over 1,300 hours of television this year. Of course, television’s also changing. We’re watching more and more online, on phones, tablets, and on connected televisions. Amazon and Netflix can now deliver programmes globally. Yet today, like every other day, billions of people will spend billions of hours watching television, on a television. However you view them, television and video influence our view of the world.
