The top 10 pay television operators worldwide will see revenues decline over the next five years, according to Digital TV Research. Seven of them are in the United States. The top four operators by revenue, AT&T, Comcast, Charter and DISH Network, are forecast to receive 20% less television revenue between them in 2023. This rather pessimistic prediction for pay television reflects the growing influence of online video, which is becoming established as part of the television landscape. Some service providers are embracing this shift, which drives demand for more profitable fixed and mobile online access.
