The much-heralded launch of BT Sport in its challenge to the supremacy of Sky reached a peak audience of just 207,500 viewers on its opening night. That’s around 1.2% of the available audience in the United Kingdom, although the margin of error on such panel measurements is such that it’s difficult to be so precise. Talking of minority channels, the same day saw the launch on DIRECTV in America of DOGTV, the first 24-hour television channel for dogs. It’s also available online. Apparently it’s scientifically designed to provide company for dogs when left alone. Expect to see more services like this. It could even teach BT a trick or two.
