The latest quarterly issue of our Multiscreen Index reveals the first regional loss but still shows an overall gain in television subscriber numbers worldwide. Even in the United States, the impact of so-called ‘cord cutting’ so far appears to have been marginal. The year on year loss across the top 10 services in the United States is still less than half a per cent of their combined subscriber base. The thing to remember is that the American market is very different to the rest of the world. Later this week I’ll be at the Nordic Media Summit in Copenhagen to see how online television and video are viewed in Scandinavia.
