The leading American cable operator is creating a new division, Comcast Interactive Media, to develop its internet businesses.
Comcast says it will build on its position as the largest residential broadband service provider to develop compelling online interactive services.
Amy Banse, previously responsible for much of the growth of the Comcast channel business, will become president of Comcast Interactive Media, reporting to chief operating officer Steve Burke.
“Comcast has a great opportunity to capitalize on the internet’s growth as the country’s largest broadband and video provider,” said Burke.
Based in Philadelphia, Comcast is the leading cable provider in the country, with 21.4 million cable customers and 8.1 million high-speed internet customers.
