Cogeco, owner of Cogeco Cable and Quebec TV station TQS, plans to make interactive television a new priority.
Chief executive Louis Audet said he believes in the potential of interactive television, although unlike cable television rival Videotron, Cogeco Cable has not provided interactive services to date.
He said that previous offerings did not meet people’s expectations. “The bottom line is that nobody has managed to come up with program content interesting enough to justify the expense.”
The company currently offers video-on-demand subscription services and plans to offer digital telephony and home networking products.
