While pay-television operators begin to embrace broadband as a distribution platform, the same disruptive technologies can be used to deliver media from the home to anywhere in the world with internet access.
So should fixed and mobile network operators be in the business of providing programming or concentrate on simply delivering data? What are the opportunities for new media players and the implications for traditional distribution channels? This week I will be speaking at an event in London, entitled I want my IPTV, and no doubt these will be some of the issues to be discussed. I hope to meet some of you there.
The first Sky HD set-top boxes are due to be delivered this week, but apparently many installations are being delayed as the boxes are in short supply. We hope to have a report on the new service as soon as possible.
