The latest issue of the informitv MULTISCREEN INDEX shows a quarterly increase in subscribers of almost 1% worldwide, which is slightly up on previous quarters.

The annual revenue from online pay television services like DIRECTV NOW will increase more than five times from $2.8 billion in 2017 to $18.5 billion in 2023, while pay television revenues will be lower by $18 billion at the end of this period. These forecasts from Digital TV Research suggest that there will be a transition in value from traditional cable and satellite services to online offerings. That does not account for the cost of connectivity, which will be increasingly indispensable, with people paying more for fixed and mobile access to such services.
