Following an industry consultation, the heads of public service broadcasters in the United Kingdom are appealing for new legislation to guarantee prominence of their channels, programmes and associated on-demand services on platforms and devices. Television and video service providers and television manufacturers are opposed to further regulation, arguing that it inhibits innovation and that viewers should be able to choose what to watch without being limited to broadcaster apps. It is a longstanding contentious issue but it may not be top of the list of government priorities right now. I would be interested in your views.
