Many people with personal video recorders may say that they have changed the way they watch television. Industry research consistently suggests that people watch more live television than they think and skip adverts less than they might choose to believe. My own anecdotal experience is that I generally now only watch news, sport, weather and some live programmes at their time of transmission. Most other programmes I view from the store that I have selectively recorded. I also routinely and deliberately skip most adverts. I hear similar experiences from others. Yet we may not be typical, and our own perception may differ from observable actual audience behaviour. If you have a digital video recorder, how has your viewing changed? Let me know how you think general video viewing may change as they become more prevalent.
