The Online TV and Video Summit is taking place in London this week. I’ll be chairing the first day, on Tuesday, at the Park Lane Hilton. It seems that we’re still waiting for an imminent pronouncement from the BBC Trust on whether to proceed with the proposed joint venture Canvas platform. Meanwhile the European HbbTV initiative has published its specification and submitted the draft as an open standard. One way or another, network connected television devices and displays are becoming more prevalent. All of which presents new challenges and opportunities for the traditional television advertising and subscription business models. Later this week the Future TV Advertising Forum will bring together representatives from the advertising and broadcasting industries to debate the future of television advertising.
