The unexpected highlight of the NAB Show in Las Vegas was a provocative speech delivered by the actor, writer, producer and director Tim Robbins. It was perhaps not quite what the organisers were hoping for but as a wake-up call to the industry it was welcomed by at least some in the audience. In other respects, the mood seemed somewhat subdued, following the former excitement over digital and high-definition, as broadcasters slowly come to terms with the changes that are going on around them. Next week will be taking the opportunity to meet some of our colleagues in Silicon Valley, who may have their own ideas about the future of broadcasting.
