It is Cyber Monday, a marketing term to promote online sales at this time of year. Among the promotions will be many 4K Ultra HD televisions at affordable prices, prompting people to upgrade their displays to even larger screens. Six out of ten of homes in the United Kingdom now have a television with a screen larger than 40 inches across the diagonal. That rises to over eight out of ten of those with satellite television. Yet many channels are still broadcast in standard definition, no doubt disappointing those that expect an improved viewing experience by buying a bigger television. So it should be little surprise if they prefer to watch programming that tends to look a lot better on their big screen.
