Digital TV Research predicts that the percentage of households in the United States subscribing to an online video service will rise from 55% to over 73% over the next five years. By then it forecasts that Netflix will have 67 million subscribers, Amazon will have 60 million and Hulu will have 28 million, while DIRECTV NOW and Sling TV will have 5.5 and 3.5 million respectively. It is into this environment that proposed services from Disney and NewTV will launch. Time will tell how comparatively successful they will be.
