New research from Ofcom suggests what we have always suspected, that viewers with digital video recorders routinely skip commercials. This certainly reflects our own experience and is supported by anecdotal evidence, but there is still some confusion between self-reported and actually observed behaviour. It seems users may believe they skip commercials more often than they do because it is an active action, but still end up seeing some advertisements. Does this tally with your own experience? I would be interested to know.
