The annual Eurovision Song Contest, organised by the European Broadcasting Union and produced this year by the Israel host broadcaster KAN, is delivered by 41 participating broadcasters to an estimated audience of approaching 200 million people. This year they tested next generation audio using the MPEG-H format. It allows users to adjust the mix, although not the imperfect pitch of some of the performers. The diversity displayed and the sophistication of the staging are always remarkable. The United Kingdom finished last, with just 16 points, as the country contemplates the wisdom of leaving the European Union. With the Netherlands announced as the winner, Dutch broadcasters will join together to host the 65th contest in 2020.
