BritBox is the latest plan announced by the BBC and ITV in the United Kingdom to offer an online video subscription service for a collection of ‘box sets’ and a library of British programming. If you have feel like you have seen it all before, it may be because they already offer BritBox in North America, where it has made a modest impression on the market after two years. Or you may recall the BBC Store, which was closed after two years, or SeeSaw, which shut down within two years, born of Project Kangaroo, which was blocked by the Competition Commission, or Project Canvas, which became YouView but did not replace Freeview or Freesat. Perhaps this latest incarnation will cut through. We wish them the best of British.
