A new YouGov survey suggests that half the people in Britain planning to buy a Smart TV simply want to update their display, while a quarter of those who already own one have never used it to connect to the internet. Nevertheless, a third of connected television owners claim they now spend more time watching television through on-demand services than watching traditional television, although of course their perception may not match reality. We’re currently working on a new report, Connected Television Revealed, which will look at all this and much more in detail and help our clients understand this rather confused market. You can receive a considerable discount on this report by registering your interest on our web site. Meanwhile, the annual Connected TV Summit takes place in London this week. This two-day conference features a packed programme, from breakfast briefings to conference keynotes and breakout sessions, with networking drinks and the Connected TV Awards 2012, for which I was one of the judges. I look forward to seeing many of you there. Next Monday is a public holiday in the United Kingdom so there’ll be no newsletter next week, but we’ll have any updates on the web.
