The Super Bowl may have once again amassed the largest ever television audience in the United States. Despite a variety of viewing options, the vast majority of those watching will have gathered around the biggest screen in the home with friends or family. Advertisers are prepared to pay $5 million for a 30-second advert that people will actually watch. The audience has been steadily growing over the last decade. Last year drew a record 114.4 million viewers. At times this, these television events create a shared experience, a national identity. We’ve still not seen anything like this online.
