This week the 3DTV World Forum takes place in London. I’m pleased to be one of the moderators for the first international conference on stereoscopic television. 3D is inevitably attracting attention because of its obvious, sometimes rather too evident, visual effects. Despite the early enthusiasm for stereo video, some remain sceptical about such spectacles. As previously observed, the prospects of network-connected television may prove far more disruptive. The entry of Google into the market with an open platform is a defining moment. Having talked about broadband and broadcast convergence for many years, I’ll be watching with interest. Thanks to all those that have signed up for this newsletter in recent weeks. If you know someone who might benefit, please feel free to forward on to them or suggest that they sign up for their own weekly update.
